“If a woman doesn’t look like a goddess during labor, then someone isn’t treating her right.”

- Ina May Gaskin

  • Stacking the cards in your favor by controlling the things you can control

    • movement and nutrition

    • mindset

    • education-knowledge is power

    • when your baby will arrive

    • how your labor will unfold

Labor and Birth Support

This is where all of that intentional birth prep pays off and you surrender to the path you are given. Only focusing on the present moment, sinking into your body, and turning your brain off!

I support you via phone and text until labor intensifies and/or you decide to have me join you. I love to meet you at your home, but I can meet you at the hospital/birth center as well. Your partner and I work together to protect, and preserve your birth space. We work together as a team to provide as much comfort and support possible while holding space for this epic journey of becoming mother (or mother again).

I can be super involved but my favorite way to support you during labor is to get out of your way and let you do the thing! (meanwhile I’m turning down the lights, giving you electrolytes, filling the birth tub, wiping sweat from your brow, slipping a labor comb into your hands, and guiding your partner through comfort measures. I will remain with you post birth for up to two hours (hospital birth) and 4 hours (home birth) to make sure your new family is stable and well.

  • On-call for your birth 24/7

  • Unlimited access to phone/text support during business hours.

Postpartum Support

You may feel joy, wonder, tenderness, exhaustion, vulnerability—or all of it at once. I’m there to listen, to witness, and to remind you that there is no single way you are supposed to feel in these first hours/days/weeks.

Your baby doesn’t need a perfect mother. Your baby needs you.

Before I leave, I want you to feel grounded in your new beginning—connected to your baby, supported in your choices, and a little more confident in the mother who is emerging through it all.

Postpartum is full of the beautiful, messy, extraordinary work of becoming a mother, or mother again.

  • 1-2 postpartum meetings

  • reconnect and debrief your birth (if desired).

  • answer questions about birth/newborn care/basic breastfeeding

  • referrals for lactation consultants, body workers for mother and baby, etc.

“Extremely knowledgeable, open to different perspectives and does not pretend to have all the answers, nor does she act as if it's her way or nothing else. Far from it. She is an incredible advocate and communicator and has an aura of being totally locked in to what she is doing. Rachel is VERY intelligent and genuinely kind and this is her calling, it's obvious…she should be cloned and put in every L&D ward. You need to hire her, you will not regret it. She is solid gold!”-Slade
