Prepared+Powerful Prenatal Schedule

You’re having a baby!! What an incredible path before you. Below is an example of a prenatal schedule that I tend to  follow for my Prepared+Powerful package. Don’t worry if you are deep into your pregnancy journey and past the recommended timeline! (I have a plan for that too).

First Prenatal (2-4 weeks post hire)- Doesn’t matter if you’re 8 weeks pregnant or 32 weeks pregnant. I don’t want to wait for months after you hire me to start working together. It’s never too soon to start getting to know each other, and preparing for your birth. Part of the Prepared + Powerful package is a stellar childbirth education program that requires homework. One of my clients said they felt like they had enrolled in “birth university,” Which  is a great way to describe it! We prepare for our marriages months ahead of time, why not birth? Our first prenatal is at my home office and  we discuss birth values, care providers, personal responsibility, the role of mom/dad/doula, expectations, movement routines, and nutrition.

Second Prenatal ( 24-28 weeks)- Body Ready Method. This is where we spend time getting to know your body, and its specific movement/compensation patterns. We look at the big picture of your daily routines and habits. Do you have a desk job? Are you chasing a toddler? Do you have any athletic injuries in the past or present? I will give you specific tools/ movement plans that are tailored to your body to ideally keep you out of pain and maintain function through your third trimester.  Plus, it increases your chances for a more efficient birth. This meeting is at my home office where I have all the fun things! (bolsters, pelvis model, yoga blocks, yoga blanket, etc).

Third Prenatal (30-34 weeks)- Roll up your sleeves because we are discussing all things birth plans! We will dive deep and cover all the details of what Mom needs/wants during an unmedicated birth, a medicated birth, or (if needed) a cesarean birth.  We will discuss your ideal vision of birth, and  how I can help facilitate your vision and values. This is a super fun visit. I come to your home and get the lay of the land. We walk through your home together and  find places you might enjoy laboring. We practice laboring positions and coping techniques. We role play situations where advocacy might be needed, for example; when a provider wants you to push on the bed, Mom declines a vaginal check, delayed cord clamping past the routine one minute, etc.

Home Visit- If you are planning a home birth, I attend your 36 week home visit. The home visit is always a special moment where the whole birth team gathers at your home to meet each other (if we haven’t already) and go over your birth preferences, transfer options, birth pool location, birth supplies, etc. This is when it starts to feel very real. Your baby will be here soon!

Fourth Prenatal (36-37 weeks)- This is a virtual meeting and a check-in! We will talk about induction, because chances are, it’s going to be a topic of conversation anyways. What are your biases surrounding induction? For what reasons would you choose an induction? What would you do if your provider suggests a non-evidence-based induction? How comfortable are you going past 42 weeks? 41 weeks? Etc. We also talk about postpartum expectations, supplies, and how to best set yourself up for an enjoyable 4th trimester. The parent program comes with a Babymoon Planner that will be extremely helpful in preparing you for the first few months with baby.
